Extended profile

Hannes joined AWA straight after obtaining his M.Sc. degree in Engineering Physics from the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University. During his studies he gained a broad knowledge in everything from physics and maths to computer science and mechanics. In the end he specialized in AI and machine learning. As part of that he did his master’s thesis within the area of Natural Language Processing, developing an intelligent patent search tool at AWA.

His greatest side project to his studies was taking part in Lund Formula Student in 2019. It’s a student project where you design, build and race a small Formula-style race car. The aim is then to compete in some of the global competitions against other universities from all around the world. Formula Student is the largest engineering contest in the world, with the goal to give students real engineering experience.

Hannes has also gained experience from different summer internships. The most recent was at Axis Communications in Lund where he worked with machine learning on embedded devices. The previous three summers he worked at GE Healthcare in Uppsala with different administrational tasks.
