Tunisia new member in international trademark cooperation
On 16 October 2013 Tunisia acceded to the international cooperation agreement on trademark registration that is commonly known as the Madrid System and is administered by the World Intellectual Property Organisation, WIPO.
The Madrid System offers a cost-effective solution to the challenge of protecting brands and trademarks in the international arena. By filing just one single application it is possible to register a trademark in any number of the 90 signatory states as well as in the European Union through the Community Trademark system.
The Madrid System has witnessed a rapid rise in the number of members in recent years, with a further seven countries acceding to the agreement in the past 18 months alone.
